McCarthy, who was House Speaker Paul Ryan`s top deputy as House Majority Leader, had Ryan`s endorsement, as well as backing from the many Republicans whose re-election he`d supported over the years. Jordan had support from conservative organizations like FreedomWorks as well as allies in the House Freedom Caucus he co-founded.
